Neuroma

A neuroma, specifically a Morton’s neuroma, is a benign growth of nerve tissue that typically occurs between the third and fourth toes of the foot. This condition can cause significant discomfort and pain due to nerve compression or irritation, often caused by factors such as tight footwear, high-impact activities, or structural abnormalities of the foot.

What are the signs of

Neuroma

  • Pain: Sharp, burning, or shooting pain in the ball of the foot that may radiate to the toes.
  • Tingling or numbness: Sensations of tingling, numbness, or a “pins and needles” feeling in the affected toes.
  • Sensation of a lump: A feeling of having a pebble or lump in the shoe, often reported while walking.
  • Pain aggravated by activity: Discomfort that worsens with activities such as walking, running, or wearing tight shoes.
  • Relief with rest: Pain may improve or resolve when resting or removing footwear.
